Body language expert reveals “telling” signs Michael Clarke lied

<p>A body language expert has weighed in on the infamous public scuffle where former Cricketer, Michael Clarke, was accused of cheating on his girlfriend, Jade Yarbrough.</p> <p>Louanne Ward, an Australian relationship expert, told <em>The Daily Mail</em> that some of Clarke's words and actions were indicative of him not telling the truth.</p> <p>The first sign that Clarke wasn't being truthful was when he took his shirt off to try and "make himself look bigger".</p> <p>"People....often make really big, bold gestures in an attempt to intimidate, look at the way Michael was walking in that video and you'll notice his arms are rounded and splayed," she said.</p> <p>She also told <em>The Daily Mail</em> that removing his shirt is a "fight response".</p> <p>The second sign the expert identified was the rising inflections in his voice as he pleaded with his girlfriend.</p> <p>"When someone is not telling the truth, their voice goes up a little bit at the end of a word," she highlighted.</p> <p>"You'll notice that you can definitely hear the inflections in Michael's voice when he speaks to Jade".</p> <p>Another "telling" sign was Clarke's choice to deflect the argument back to Jade.</p> <p>"Go, hit me ... do it again. You're wrong, you're f**king wrong," Clarke deflected in the video.</p> <p>The expert said that in choosing to say "you're wrong" instead of "I", "he's not taking any responsibility," which could be "indicative of guilt".</p> <p>Another subtle sign, according to the expert, was that he "kept shuffling his feet while he was standing with Jade", which is a natural response.</p> <p>The expert said that when people are being accused of something, "the limbic brain - which controls our behavioural and emotional responses - switches on and freezes body responses."</p> <p>"So when he can't keep his feet still, that could seem to be a sign of something not quite right".</p> <p>The last tell-tale sign was that he tried to invade Jade's personal space despite her walking away from him.</p> <p>"Clearly, Michael got slapped and that's a big invasion of personal space," said the expert.</p> <p>"But when someone tries to remove themselves from the situation like Jade walked off, and you go and follow them and get back in their space".</p> <p>The expert said that it's impossible to tell if someone is lying based on their body language alone and that we should look out for clusters of behaviours.</p> <p>"If they have three different things, then you can certainly tell that if they're not being dishonest, then there is something that is making them exceptionally uncomfortable, it's important to look at all aspects of their behaviour," she said.</p> <p><em>Image: Getty</em></p>

Karl Stefanovic and Michael Clarke caught in public scuffle over cheating claims

<p>Australian cricket legend Michael Clarke and TV personality Karl Stefanovic have been filmed in a fight over cheating claims while holidaying in Noosa.</p> <p>The incident occurred on January 10 and was released to <em>The Daily Telegraph</em> on Wednesday.</p> <p>Clarke and Stefanovic were having dinner with their partners, Jade and Jasmine Yarbrough, when their friendly dinner was cut short as Jade confronted Clarke after she reportedly contacted the former cricketer's ex-partner Pip Edwards.</p> <p>“You f**ked her on December 17 … You f**ked her, you’re a f**king dog,” Jade screamed.</p> <p>Clarke vigorously denied the accusations, saying that he was with their celebrity accountant friend Anthony Bell.</p> <p>"Baby, baby, Belly was at the house. I swear on my life, I swear at my life… That's not true, it's not true," he continued.</p> <p>Jade refuted, saying that his ex-partner told her about it: "You're f**king lying to me. You are a piece of s**t. I just spoke to her. What is wrong with you?"</p> <p>At this moment, her sister Jasmine and Stefanovic tried to intervene, which led to Clarke taking his anger out on the TV show host.</p> <p>"Karlos, I can tell you now c**t, don't you f**king walk away. She can, she can punch me, but not you, you c**t," Clarke said.</p> <p>Jade continued to yell at Clarke and hit him.</p> <p>“You piece of s**t, don’t you f**king speak to him,” she defended her brother-in-law.</p> <p>Clarke insisted that Jade was wrong, to which Jade retorted: "Oh am I wrong? You f**ked her [Edwards] on December 17, you f**ked her… you're a f**king dog… I'm going to show her every f**king message you ever f**king sent me".</p> <p>The video footage ended with Jasmine and Bell separating the couple.</p> <p>In a statement to <em>The Daily Telegraph</em>, the former cricketer accepted full responsibility for his actions.</p> <p>“I’m absolutely gutted I’ve put people I hold in the highest regard in this position,” he said. “My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable.</p> <p>“I am shattered that because of my actions I’ve drawn women of class and integrity, and my mates, into this situation.”</p> <p>“I own this fully and am the only one at fault.”</p> <p>Clarke’s ex, Edward, also released a statement, hitting back with: “This is not my circus"</p> <p>“Yet again, Michael in his true nature has not taken responsibility for his actions and I was blatantly lied to," she said.</p> <p>Karl Stefanovic has yet to release a statement, with the topic being ignored on today's segment of <em>The Today Show</em>.</p> <p><em>Image: Getty, The Daily Telegraph, 7News</em></p>

“This has shattered us”: BBC reality star Jasmine Burkitt has passed away

<p dir="ltr">British reality star Jasmine Burkitt, known as Jazz to her loved ones and friends, has died aged 28.</p> <p dir="ltr">Burkitt was known for her 2011 documentary, Small Teen, Bigger World, a four-part series on BBC Three where she gave viewers an insight into her life as a teenager with dwarfism.</p> <p dir="ltr">Her fiancé, Lewis Burke, confirmed the news of her passing on social media earlier this week, per <em><a href="https://celebrity.nine.com.au/latest/jasmine-burkitt-dead-at-28-bbc-reality-star/b4cb4bdf-b00b-40ab-a78c-f25a3092dc9b" target="_blank" rel="noopener">9Honey</a></em>.</p> <p dir="ltr">“She is the most incredible human that ever walked this planet, she is the strongest, funniest, most kindest and purely decent person I’ve ever known,” he wrote on their shared Facebook page.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I am truly devastated. She changed my life forever and I’ll never be the same.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Burke, who was in hospital for a heart operation at the time of her passing, said Burkitt had passed away “after a long battle with a serious mental illness”.</p> <p dir="ltr">According to multiple media outlets, Norman Burkitt, Burkitt’s grandfather, said Burke’s mother found her body in a tent where she and Burke had been living since 2021.</p> <p dir="ltr">The couple had been documenting their life living in a tent in Bodelwyddan, Wales, on their Facebook page, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/lewisandjazz/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Join our Journey</a>, after struggling to get council accommodation.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We’re a differently abled couple who happen to live in a tent outdoors, in the UK,” the introduction on their page reads.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Although this wasn’t really our first choice, we are still determined to remain happy and productive throughout!! We are turning our homelessness from something negative to something positive.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Burkitt’s grandfather said the couple’s situation highlighted the “desperate” housing situation in Wales, since the couple couldn’t get public housing together as they were from two different parts of the country.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The coroner has rang us to say there will be a post mortem. They were living in this tent because they could not get a house,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">He described his granddaughter as a “fantastic girl” who was “so clever and bright”, emphasising her love of art and her television success.</p> <p dir="ltr">“She broke all sorts of viewing records at the BBC and got two awards,” he said. “This has shattered us, we have had no sleep. Everyone will miss her.”</p> <p dir="ltr">While Burkitt was filming her show, she was a registered carer for her mother, who later died from lung and breathing problems in 2014. Both had an undiagnosed form of dwarfism, which doctors couldn’t find the cause for.</p> <p dir="ltr">Her grandfather revealed she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had a heart valve issue that meant she was taking three different types of medication and had to have hospital check-ups every six months.</p> <p dir="ltr">In January, Burkitt shared with her followers on Instagram that she had been hospitalised due to her physical and mental health at the end of the previous year, adding that she was “so happy to be much more stable” and couldn’t wait to be back with Burke and their dog, Loki.</p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-662c7374-7fff-b002-8b29-ade203924b07"></span></p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image: @joinourjourneyinsta (Instagram)</em></p>

No sale for Karl's big holiday home hopes

<p dir="ltr">Karl Stefanovic and his wife Jasmin Yarbrough have struggled to sell their beachfront home. </p> <p dir="ltr">The pair purchased the stunning Sunshine Beach home in 2019 for $3.5 million in 2019, just before the pandemic hit and had only spent five weeks there.</p> <p dir="ltr">The pair were told by real estate agents that their home could fetch up to $7.5 million but no offer was placed during last week’s auction. </p> <p dir="ltr">Karl confessed that he couldn’t keep travelling between Sydney and Queensland during the pandemic so they decided to sell the house. </p> <p dir="ltr">“We purchased the property on Seaview Terrace just before the pandemic hit,” Karl said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We’ve added a teenage retreat, a bathroom and a wine cellar. It’s a really beautiful slice of Sunshine Beach paradise. The views are incredible and we just love the people and area.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The reality though is I can’t get away from work in Sydney nearly enough and the logistics of coming in and out of Queensland have been challenging.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Eventually we will come back to Noosa when we have more time. If we can afford it. It’s the best beach community anywhere.’’</p> <p dir="ltr">The beautiful estate boasts five bedrooms, all which have sea views, undercover terraces, ensuites, and customised variations of curved and seashell-inspired headboards.</p> <p dir="ltr">The multi-level villa also has five bathrooms, a huge kitchen with a marble island, and a pool outside. Jasmine Stefanovic's family heartbreak

<p><em>Image: Getty </em></p> <p>Jasmine Stefanovic Nèe Yarbrough’s grandmother, Isabel Hollingworth, has passed away at 95 years of age.</p> <p>Announcing the sad news on her Instagram, the shoe designer posted a collage of photos of herself with her grandmother, alongside a very sweet poem entitled ‘Nana’s Love.’</p> <p>“The days may dance too swiftly as your Quickstep becomes a Waltz, but your voice still sings with angels Sunday mornings, when it matters most,” the poem begins.</p> <p>“Take your afternoon tea and chocolate and come with me down memory lane, hold my hand on Burleigh beach where my childhood days,” the poem continues.</p> <p>“With the softest touch of Nana’s love guiding me as I’ve grown, you shone brighter than any star in a class, all of your own. I learnt the art of being a lady. The value of grace and being kind. Doting mum Jasmine Stefanovic shares new milestone with Harper

The Block’s Scotty Cam weighs in on “identical bedrooms”

<p>After days of controversy on-air and online, <em>The Block</em> host Scott Cam has weighed in on contestants Luke and Jasmin’s “copycatted” bedroom.</p> <p>The TV host has determined the kids bedroom is “virtually identical” to the room they have been accused of ripping off.</p> <p>Cam couldn’t resist stirring the pot on Wednesday night’s episode, by making sure Luke and Jasmin’s competitors knew something was wrong, a day after judge Shaynna Blaze had visited the pair to confront the pair on-air.</p> <p>The WA couple received a perfect score of 30 for their kid’s bedroom and bathroom on Sunday’s episode.<br /><br />However eagle-eyed viewers found the winning room was incredibly similar to a kid’s bedroom at a popular Byron Bay Airbnb created by design company <em>The Designory.</em></p> <p><img style="width: 500px; height: 281.25px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7838121/dailies-3.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/59a4ddcd1a374b32bea6088e5e0387c0" /><br />Blaze confronted the two in Tuesday’s episode, informing them that there was a difference between “inspiration” and “completely taking someone else’s idea”.<br /><br />“Hey, did Shaynna come and visit you guys yesterday?” Cam asked the South Australian couple Daniel and Jade during his visit one episode later.<br /><br />“Because you know, it’s not always good news when Shaynna comes visiting. That’s all I’m saying. Alright, let’s go,” he said.<br /><br />A couple of houses down with Jimmy and Tam, Cam couldn’t play coy any longer.<br /><br />“Did you hear about Shaynna popping in next door? What’s your thoughts?” he asked the pair, who were aware of the reason for Shaynna’s visit.<br /><br />Jimmy and Tam showed their reluctance on speaking ill of Luke and Jasmin.<br /><br />“Umm … in all honesty, we’re not that worried about it. We know that other people might have a few issues about it. I don’t have Instagram, I don’t have Facebook – I don’t want other people’s designs in our house,” she said.<br /><br />Luke and Jasmin told news.com.au that they were “blindsided” by Shaynna Blaze's visit, labelling her “insincere” and a “smart-arse.”<br /><br />The couple have since deleted their Facebook page and restricted comments on their joint Instagram account after being met with a heap of criticism from viewers.<br /><br />2019’s couple Mitch and Mark reached out to Luke and Jasmin with a message of “support and positive wishes”.<br /><br />“Hope you guys are doing OK &amp; know from our experience it all goes away,” the pair wrote in a comment on Luke and Jasmin’s latest Instagram post.<br /><br />“It’s definitely come as a surprise just how nasty the online world can be. We’ve never had people dislike us. So this is all new,” Luke and Jas said.<br /><br />“We’ve deleted Facebook so we don’t see anything on there. Staying positive about our beautiful home and focusing on the rooms left and the auction.”</p>

The adorably lazy way Karl rang in his 46th birthday

She’s here! Karl and Jasmine’s bundle of joy has arrived

<p>Proud dad Karl Stefanovic has confirmed the birth of his fourth child with wife Jasmine Yarbrough last night.</p> <p>In a statement to <em>Today</em>, he confirmed mum and baby are doing well after giving birth on May 1<sup>st</sup>.</p> <p>The couple have named their daughter Harper May Stefanovic, with the new bub weighing in at just 2.9 kgs.</p> <p><img style="width: 500px; height:281.25px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7835915/karl-baby.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/c086cabab0214d8c86fade34d7fda044" /></p> <p>"Harper and Jasmine are doing well and dad had a great night's sleep. "We just can't wait to meet this little girl": Karl Stefanovic on fatherhood for a fourth time

<div class="post_body_wrapper"> <div class="post_body"> <div class="body_text "> <p>Karl Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine are expecting a new baby girl any day now and the<span> </span>Today<span> </span>host has opened up on becoming a father for the fourth time.</p> <p>Stefanovic is already a father to three children from his previous marriage to Cassandra Thorburn with children Jackson, 20, Ava, 14 and River, 12.</p> <p>He said that despite having a vasectomy when he first met Jasmine, he had the procedure reversed and having a child together was always a goal for the couple.</p> <p>"We discussed it very early on in our relationship and I was very excited about the prospect of having a baby," he told <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8236013/Karl-Stefanovic-juggles-Today-allen-keys-prepares-fatherhood-fourth-time.html" target="_blank">Daily Mail Australia</a>.</p> <p>"I can't wait," he said.</p> <p>He also says that his new daughter will be an expression of the love he has for his new wife.</p> <p>"We [he and Jasmine] do have a very loving relationship and to have a baby as an expression of that love is incredible. It's never an easy thing and I think that kids are a miracle and we just can't wait to meet this little girl. Just to shower her with all the love that we have."</p> <p>The couple are nesting in Karl’s multi-million dollar home in Sydney’s north shore.</p> <p>"I've had a fair few boxes arrive at the door and I've had to get the allen keys out," he revealed.</p> <p>"I've helped build the cot, they've got this breast-feeding chair thing that I've put together. This is not easy stuff for a guy like me. Karl Stefanovic gushes over wife to publication he once branded as "despicable"

<p>Karl Stefanovic has given a wide ranging interview to an outlet he once described as having a “despicable track record” and begged viewers not to read, as he continues the PR blitz surrounding his return to the<span> </span><em>Today</em><span> </span>show.</p> <p>The breakfast show host spoke about his relationship with wife Jasmine Yarbrough and their excitement over the impending birth of their daughter next month in a new in-depth, three-part interview with the<span> </span><em>Daily Mail</em>.</p> <p>But in 2017, things were different, as the 45-year-old delivered a blistering on-air takedown of that same publication and begged viewers of the<span> </span><em>Today</em><span> </span>show to “never go on that website” after it published photos of him checking into a country NSW caravan park with a female colleague, with whom he was working on a story.</p> <p>The article pointed out that then-girlfriend Yarbrough was “nowhere to be seen”.</p> <p>At the time, Stefanovic begged people viewing the show at home to not read the<span> </span><em>Daily Mail</em>.</p> <p>“How would you feel if I judged you for what you’re wearing this morning. How would you feel if I criticised your hair, or mocked your make-up or shamed you for not wearing any?” he asked.</p> <p>“I want to take a couple of minutes right now to call out an organisation that trades in these kind of insults. It’s a news website which seeks to profit from criticising and publicly humiliating people — women especially,” he said.</p> <p>“The sleazy suggestion we are checking in somewhere and that I’m ‘settling in for a long night.’ Fact: this was work. We were filming a story about our struggling prawn farmers; they deserve a rum or two. The producer pictured on the website is a committed, talented, hardworking and totally professional young woman and not deserving of this cheap, lazy, sexist online slur.”</p> <p>Stefanovic continued: “The idea that colleagues of the opposite sex cannot work together without something going on surely belongs to the 1950s. The <em>Daily Mail </em>has a long, despicable track record of denigrating women, of ridiculing women and objectifying women.”</p> <p>He went on to give examples of previous stories the<span> </span><em>Daily Mail</em><span> </span>had published, about his then-Today colleagues Lisa Wilkinson and Sylvia Jeffreys. He also referenced the outlet’s infamous Samantha Armytage “granny panties” post that resulted in an apology from the publication.</p> <p>“This is the same site that ridiculed Lisa for wearing the same blouse four months apart, the same site that tried to suggest that Lisa and Sylvia couldn’t work together, presumably because they are both women. The same site that tried to shame Sunrise host Samantha Armytage for wearing so-called ‘granny pants’.”</p> <p>“I am over it. I don’t know what you think, but I hope Australia is over it as well. Go hard on me, make up your stories, publish your lies and send out the paps. But if you have any care whatever for the women of Australia, do not slur the reputations of others in your eagerness to throw mud at me. If you agree with me, the best thing that you can do is never go to that website.”</p> <p>But now, as<span> </span><em>Today<span> </span></em>struggles in the ratings department against rival<span> </span><em>Sunrise</em>, Stefanovic gave a wide-ranging interview to that same outlet, gushing about his love for Yarbrough.</p> <p>“I think there’s a light about her and a loyalty and an inner beauty – that was the biggest attraction for me,” he told the publication.</p> <p>“And she’s beautifully loyal to her friends and her family. She’s just a great Queensland girl and I’m very, very lucky … We do have a very loving relationship and to have a baby as an expression of that love is incredible.”</p> <p>The couple will welcome a baby girl next month – her first and her husband’s fourth. Stefanovic is already a father to Jackson, 20, Ava, 15, and River, 13 – but he admitted that this time around, he’ll approach parenting differently.</p> <p>“It’s obviously going to be different. I’m going to be a bit slower but I think slower might be a good thing,” he told the outlet.</p> <p>“I’m not in such a hurry to go somewhere else and I’m not chasing the yarns overseas like I was when I was building up to this point in my career.</p> <p>“And I don’t think that’s any great sleight on me as a father – it’s just the way things were. As a family we were working towards other things but you are busy in your 20s and 30s. You’re providing for your family every step of the way.</p> <p>“You’re pretty busy making your way and you don’t stop to smell the roses sometimes but that’s the way it is.”</p>

Karl Stefanovic addresses “hurtful” claims

<p>Karl Stefanovic has denied claims that his wife Jasmine Yarbrough was responsible for the end of his 21-year marriage with Cassandra Thorburn.</p> <p>In a new interview with <em><a href="https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/lifestyle/stellar/karl-stefanovic-jasmine-didnt-steal-me-from-cassandra/news-story/f664e6b9f369299346ce8f0ca19a3760">Stellar</a></em>, the <em>Today </em>show host said Yarbrough has had to endure public condemnation since they met in late 2016.</p> <p>“She’s been through so much. She’s been pilloried and accused of things that didn’t happen,” Stefanovic said.</p> <p>“It’s not her fault she fell in love with bugalugs, and the accusations were wrong about her stealing me from Cassandra. It’s rubbish and it’s hurtful.</p> <p>“She’s just a beautiful, sweet woman from Queensland who runs a business and fell in love with me.”</p> <p>Stefanovic was axed from <em>Today </em>days after his wedding to Yarbrough in December 2018. He made his return to the breakfast show earlier this year alongside Allison Langdon.</p> <p>“People were saying to me, ‘You’ve lost the female demographic,’ and I’m not being arrogant or saying that didn’t happen, but I had so many lovely women coming up to me, women who have been divorced, saying: ‘I know there is a lot more going on here than we’re seeing. Keep going and don’t listen.’”</p> <p>Stefanovic’s ex-wife Thorburn is now co-hosting the podcast <em>Divorce Story – Surviving Separation</em>, where she and journalist Annaliese Dent discuss the subject of marriage breakdown with experts and divorced women.</p> <p>When asked about Thorburn’s project, Stefanovic said: “She’s earned the right to talk about whatever she wants. That’s just not how I would have done it. Whatever she does in her career and her life, I wish her the very best.”</p>
